General Overview

Steps2work is a non-profit Employment Training Centre focused on assisting people with disabilities, primarily psychiatric disability as well as those with other disabilities who have a mental health issue, to secure and maintain employment by providing a range of employment related services.

Steps2work plays an important role in meeting employers human resource diversity needs by preparing people to become reliable and productive employees.

Steps2work provides employment supports to employers in identifying potential employees and assists with the transition to ongoing stable employment by ensuring program participants have supportive counselling available to them.

Steps2work prepares participants for employment by:

  • Vocational Evaluations: designed to assist participants in identifying a career path.
  • Employment Services: supports to participants in developing employability skills and in addressing any possible barriers to successful employment.
  • Follow-up/Employment Supports: supports made available to participants of the Steps2work program, as well as to the employer after the job starts to ensure a successful employment transition.
  • Employer Training: designed to help employers retain employees who may be experiencing a variety of mental health stressors.
